A brief history of our company.

Frank Howard Allen is one of Marin’s oldest and most respected companies. We’re proud to have helped shape the history of this beautiful and desirable part of Northern California. Throughout our history we’ve been a family-owned company, operated by local people who actively contribute to responsible growth and development in the North Bay Area.

1910
Founded by Frank Howard Allen, Jr., the Company's early years centered on development. In local history, Angel Island becomes an immigration center for Asians entering the United States. The Golden Gate Bridge would not be built for another 23 years.

1949
Frank names his son Charles Howard “Howdy” Allen a partner, and the firm becomes known as Frank Howard Allen & Son. After anticipating the tremendous benefits it could provide clients, Howdy plays a key role in creating the Multiple Listing Service at the Marin County Board of Realtors.

1953
With the passing of Frank Howard Allen, Howdy becomes the head of the company.

1960’s
After expanding the company to four offices and a sales staff of approximately forty, Howdy meets Jeffory Morshead, a young Realtor® in the area. In what has since become a company legend, Jeffory purchases Frank Howard Allen & Co. from Howdy Allen with a handshake and a promise.

1989
Frank Howard Allen & Co. was sold to Jeffory's cousin, Larry Brackett and his wife Brennie. From that moment to this day, Larry has been President and CEO.

Today
Since the Bracketts assumed ownership, the company has grown to become the dominant real estate company in the North Bay. In a time when local organizations are being merged into nationwide firms, Frank Howard Allen remains independent and unique. Like the Allens and Morsheads before them, Larry and Brennie Brackett are multi-generation Californians, committed not just to business but to the community as well.
